Set Up Google Ads to Track Student Course Purchases
How to create a conversion tracking code
- Sign in to your Google Ads account at ads.google.com.
- Navigate to Goals > Conversions.
- Click on New Conversion Action.
- Select Website as the conversion source.
- Under Category, choose a description for your conversion action (e.g., "Purchase").
- In the Conversion Name field, enter a descriptive name for the conversion you want to track. (Eg. JEE Mains Course Purchase)
- For Value, select option 3 to track the value of each conversion.
- Under Count, choose Every to track all course purchases, or One to track only unique purchases.
- Set the Click-through Conversion Window to the desired length of time (e.g., 30 days) to track conversions after someone clicks your ad.
- Optionally, set the View-through Conversion Window to track conversions after someone views your ad.
- Check the Include in Conversions box to include this conversion action in your reporting.
- Click on Create and Continue.
Implementing the Conversion Tracking Code on your Website:
- Select the Install the Tag Yourself option
- Copy the provided Global Site Tag code.
- In your website's admin dashboard, go to Marketing > Integrations > Code Snippets.
- Go to Site Body Code and paste the Global Site Tag code that we had previously copied.
- Copy the Event Snippet code from the Google Ads manager
- In the Code Snippet section, select Order Tracking Code and paste the Event Snippet code (for tracking course purchases).
- Click Save Changes.
